The Journal of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine (JASSM) marks its fifth anniversary as a leading open-access, peer-reviewed platform for scholarly research in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. Since its launch in 2020, JASSM has set new standards in quality, transparency, and global engagement. Its semi-annual publication schedule and commitment to editorial rigor have made it a key resource for clinicians, researchers, and educators worldwide.

GROWTH, REACH, AND INDEXING

JASSM has experienced remarkable growth, receiving a total of 275 manuscript submissions from 2020 to 2025 and publishing 84 articles. Download metrics show expanding global readership, with nearly 2 million downloads to date and peak numbers of full-text and PDF downloads in 2024. The journal’s reach extends to India, the USA, the UK, Australia, and Canada, reflecting its actual international impact. In 2025, JASSM was included in Embase and is now indexed in Google Scholar, ReadCube, CrossRef, and Portico, with applications to Clarivate (Web of Science), PubMed Central, Scopus, and the Directory of Open Access Journals underway.

EDITORIAL EFFICIENCY AND QUALITY

Acceptance rates demonstrate a commitment to excellence, ranging from 42.4% to 80.3% across different years, with an overall rejection rate of around 35%. Editorial timelines have shown steady improvement, with submission-to-acceptance times reduced from 288 days in 2022 to just over a month in 2025. These metrics point to a mature and efficient peer review system.

TOP AUTHORS AND LANDMARK PAPERS

JASSM’s influence is reflected in its most cited papers and authors, representing leaders in arthroscopy and orthopedic research. JASSM’s publications have started receiving a handsome number of citations, accruing 320 citations so far, on Google Scholar. The top ten cited publications are presented in Table 1. These top papers have shaped clinical practice and inspired future research directions.
