The Journal of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine (JASSM) was launched in 2020, as the semiannual official publication of the Indian Arthroscopy Society (IAS). It has completed its 2nd birthday and has been growing satisfactorily. It was a mammoth task to initiate and launch a new journal. The initial challenges included: Finding a good publisher, making a robust Editorial board, inviting articles, especially from the top-notch in the field of arthroscopy and sports medicine, regular and timely publication of the issues, and publishing high-quality articles. I am happy that we could overcome all these challenges and able to start this new journal within 3 months of its conception. We have a strong Editorial board of 34 reputed members, from India and overseas. I am thankful to the IAS for their outstanding support of this mission.
The JASSM is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that is committed to publishing high-quality articles in the field of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine (free of any charges). It has managed to keep on track with the publication of the January–June 2022 issue on time. It has a highly rigorous double-blind peer-review process that makes sure that manuscripts are scientifically accurate, relevant, novel, and meaningful.
We have achieved several milestones in this journal’s brief journey. In 2 years, we have received 117 submissions and have published 78 articles, so far. We publish all types of articles related to arthroscopy and sports medicine in this journal. The Original and Review articles together accounted for maximum publications (63%). We have received contributions from India and abroad (the US, Europe, Africa, Asiatic countries, etc.). The journal is registered with many abstracting partners such as Google Scholar, CrossRef, Scilit, Index Copernicus, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wang Fung, and ReadCube. We have recently applied for listing with the Directory of Open Access Journal.
The JASSM has received citations in 2 years and has seen a phenomenal increase in its readership, with the total number of downloads at 327,585 [Figure 1]. The journal has already received 50 citations that received from 66 published manuscripts in 2 years. Its H-index stands at 4.
I am highly satisfied with the progress of JASSM that has been made during its first 2 years of the journey and hope that its success story would continue and reach many more landmarks and milestones in the future, to make it a leading journal in Asia. As they say, all good things in life must come to an end, and so is my tenure as the Editor of this journal. I am handing over the baton to the newly elected Editor, Dr. Sunit Hazra, who would continue to take this journal to greater heights. Of course, I shall always to available for any help and guidance for this journal, in whatever capacity the IAS deems appropriate.
Bid adieu JASSM and keep shining and prospering in times to come!!!
