Celebrating Journal of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine’s meteoric growth

The Journal of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine (JASSM), the official publication of the Indian Arthroscopy Society (IAS), has swiftly established itself as a dominant force within the domain of arthroscopic surgery. Since its inception in 2020,^[1] JASSM has charted a path of remarkable growth and vitality, solidifying its reputation as a primary platform for disseminating innovative research and clinical insights both within the Indian arthroscopic community and across international borders.^[2,3] Professor Mats Brittberg, the innovator of articular cartilage implantation, has witnessed an enormous interest among the Indian orthopedic surgeons regarding arthroscopic surgery and emphasized that the launch of JASSM would especially help showcase the work of Indian Arthroscopic surgeons.^[4] Kambhampati et al. confirmed a healthy trend of increased publications on arthroscopy from India and suggested the need for more higher-quality studies in the coming years.^[5]

A platform for progress: The IAS, with its impressive membership of over 4,500 surgeons, represents a formidable collective in the global arthroscopic landscape. Fast forward to 2024, and that number soared to an astonishing 441,987 downloads [Figure 1], representing a staggering 14.6-fold increase.
